Jerome, AZ

Spent this past weekend in Jerome with some great friends. The weather was great, our rental was great and friends are always great I was disappointed in Jerome.

Jerome is a very small mining town on the side of a mountain known to be a very artsy community. What I saw was a biker tourist trap during the day and dead at night. I guess you have to expect the tourist trap part but I expected to see more artsy things such as shops and galleries. There are shops and a few galleries but nothing to get excited about. The very few restaurants there where expensive for what they were serving and didn't get the best service. What I enjoyed most about the trip was hanging out on the balcony of our rental people watching.

I got up early sunday morning to catch the sunrise and then to roam the town. The sunrise wasn't the best due to heavy cloud cover but really enjoyed walking the town before it began to wake up. I ran in to another photographer doing the same thing. I believe his name was Jeff. A lot of great old buildings.

Jerome does have a artwalk once a month. Maybe I will make it back for that and hopefully the artsy will actually show it's face.

First Wedding Down

I survived my first wedding. It turned out to be a hectic day but in the end the goal was accomplished.

There were some issues, the timeline that was carefully planned ended up being thrown out the window. In the ended Chris and Sandi were married and that is really the only thing matters. I learned a lot made some mistakes but overall everything turned out well. I really appreciate Chris and Sandi taking a chance on me and giving me the opportunity to document their special day.

2 days away...

I feel like I have been studying for the big final for the past few months. In 2 days I will be shooting my first wedding. I will be the only photographer. No 2nd shooter, no backup, no safety net. I feel lucky that the bride and groom have enough confidence in me to allow me to shoot their wedding. I'm sure it will be a full 10 hour day of learning experiences that will make me better for the next bride that chooses me. If there is a next time. I kind of feel like if I "flunk" this that will be it. That might be a bad way of thinking about it but I don't plan on "flunking" but like any artist or professional you have standards that you hold your self up too and if you don't reach them you failed. I'm sure what I expect out of me is more that what a client does but that doesn't mean I can ease up. Going to be a big exciting day.

Stay-Cation

We are going on a staycation this weekend. We I meen Sarah and myself. Sarah would be that significant other of mine. We have kind of been stuck in the house for the past 3 weeks due to her possibly gull bladder pain and she wanted to get out and do something. We don't really want to go too far just in case something should happen so staycation is the thing to do. It is also nice to check out the resorts we have around the city. Why should the tourists get to have all the fun.

This past week I did a product shoot for a t-shirt line from Draft House Studios. Overall it turned out ok but I see areas that can be improved on.

The Tattoo and the Artist

I am a big fan of tattoos and tattoo artists. This is Chip at Club Tattoo in Mesa, AZ tattooing my sisters stomach.

Chip is an awesome tattoo artist and he has a groovy mustache.

If you ever thought you might want a stippled tattoo, Chip has it down.

Wolfpack Football

2 Weeks ago I did team photos for Wolfpack Football. I had put a ad on Craigslist and that is how the team mom found me. Photos were delivered Thursday. The area where the photos took place wasn't the most ideal location but we made it work. I used a little different lighting set up than I did for the first team photos i did. Still not sure which I liked best. I used a umbrella list time where as last time I used bare flash. Both worked but not sure which look I liked best. Guess that's what practicing is for.
